Why the YogaBindBar?

Why the YogaBindBar?

Baddha Utthita Parsvakonasana pose (Bound Extended Side Angle) inspired the creation of the YogaBindBar.  In my 20 years of yoga practice, this pose has been a challenging favorite.

When a shoulder injury limited my range of motion, I was unable to experience Bound Extended Side Angle without the use of a traditional yoga strap.  Unable to utilize a strap without assistance, my home practice suffered.  A traditional strap fell to the ground and was difficult to reach unless I risked unsafe physical contortions.

A blue spark of inspiration...YogaBindBar was born!

YogaBindBar (fondly abbreviated YBB) is gravity resistant and bendable,  making it easy to steer and clasp without strain.    Any pose requiring a reach around, under, behind or between can now be mastered with YBB.

Without the use of a prop, most binds are “all or nothing”.  Meaning: either hands connect or don’t.  Binds require “connection” to have integrity in each pose.  With YBB, yogis can bridge this gap to experience the full benefits of bind poses.  Simple to advanced binds can be introduced gently and enjoyed safely using YogaBindBar.

As an instructor, I find YogaBindBar uniquely beneficial in class.  As yogis transition into bind poses more easily using YBB, they feel less rushed, without compromising safety.  Each body can now participate at their present level without losing the flow of the class.

When hands desire connection, YogaBindBar is there.  With YBB, all yogis have the ability to experience the joyful benefits of heart opening yoga bind poses.

Alone or in class, YogaBindBar enlightens a great practice!

Peace and Joy,
